PERFORMANCE BASE

STANDARDS

The Performance Based Standards (PBS) scheme allows operators to enhance the efficiency and safety of their heavy vehicle combinations by using advanced, optimised vehicle designs.

SAFETY

EFFICIENCY

  • Improved dynamic stability compared to a traditional road train combination.

  • Lower frequency of light vehicles vs heavy vehicle combinations.

  • Improved roll over stability due to coupling designs.
  • Improved swept path than a similar length conventional road train combination.
  • Up to 60m long combinations on selected routes.

  • Higher Gross Combination Mass.

  • Reduced on highway heavy vehicles to carry similar overall mass.

  • Lower overall fleet fuel consumption per ton hauled.

ROADWEST TRANSPORT PBS TRAILER ADVANTAGES

  • Main Roads WA and NHVR pre-approved combination designs.
  • Roadwest Transport uses a conventional fifth wheel coupling (of your choice) mounted above the frame and couples as easy as a conventional trailer to dolly hook up. This also maximises the turning radius and minimises the opportunity for damage.
  • All Roadwest Transport (RWT) PBS combinations can be utilised in conventional road train combinations due to the included rear Ringfeder style mounting. This allows versatility throughout your fleet and use on non-PBS approved routes utilising a conventional style dolly.
  • The load sharing dolly design allows for more accurate mass distribution and stability throughout the combination.
  • The self-supporting, fixed draw bar design allows road train hookup without the use of additional tooling, i.e. jacks or lifting equipment, minimising risk of personal injury and or equipment damage.
